CAPTAINS AND CREWS
CAPTAIN JENNIFER
Jennifer is a former public school teacher, current homeschooling mom and licensed ship Captain who is now “living the dream” of sharing the beauty of our area waters with others. She began Nautical North Family Adventures in 2018 with the intent of sharing her passion for our area with others and providing an exciting way for all to explore the Great Lakes and the exciting history that lies beneath the surface.
Maria
Maria will be graduating Northern Michigan University this spring with her accounting degree, and interning here in Cheboygan. Yay, Maria! Look for her to still be joining us as much as she is able. She fully enjoys her time aboard the boats at Nautical North Family Adventures and looks forward to seeing everyone this summer
Pamela Laskovy
You will find her catering our up-river tours. A native Michigander from the Grand Rapids area, she makes the trek to Northern Michigan to delight you with her magical catering expertise. She is available to cater any of our private charters as well. Just give her a call (616) 648-4525 and we can make sure your cruise includes delicious food!
Benjamin Hatch
Ben is brand new to the team this year and we are excited to have him aboard! He is 24 years old, originally from Maine. He served six years in the Marine Corps then went to college for 3 years before deciding he would much rather be on a boat. He stated work on a ferry in upstate New York and fell in love with working on the water. He holds a 100T masters license and is excited to be working on the Great Lakes.

Brenda
Hi! My name is Brenda and my love for water started as a child growing up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved to be in, on or near the water! Being outside swimming, snorkeling, paddling or just walking along the beach is what lights up my spirit! I’m retired now from my lifelong career as an accountant, and excited to be around people sharing experiences that bring me joy and hopefully others too!
Zoe
CREW (NOW A CAPTAIN TOO!) ROB
Rob Hemmer is a local historian whose passion for history is evident on each voyage! When Rob is not on the boat, he is enjoying time woodworking and scuba diving.
Kate
My name is Katie Morse. I am originally from Long Beach, California. I am currently a PADI Scuba Instructor and Specialty Instructor for Nitrox, Dive Against Debris, Deep Diving, Shark Aware, Underwater Photography, EFR, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Search and Recovery. I love teaching and sharing this passion with new divers and am dedicated to the ocean and protecting its delicate ecosystem. Some other interests of mine are writing, backpacking and traveling and learning about other cultures. I am excited to explore the Upper Peninsula and go camping this summer so if you have any recommendations feel free to share with me
MATES
MATE CALEB
One of the founders of this company, Caleb is moving on this spring to NASCAR tech to fulfill his dream of building fast engines. He anticipates owning his own company after some experience, and has talked of moving to Japan for a short while.
MATE GAGE
After taking a job outside the company last season, he is back! You will find this guy delivering kayaks right to your door this summer, and helping along with the guided eco tours. Gage will be a senior in high school next year, loves playing basketball and computer games.
MATE XAVIER
The youngest mate, and co-founder of Nautical North Family Adventures can be found in the shop, greeting you and checking you in. In the off season, Xavier will be a sophomore in high school and loves to try new sports and video games!
OUR FLEET
THE YANKEE SUNSHINE
After extensive searching for a suitable vessel to begin a new business with, it was finally decided to order brand new. The Yankee Sunshine was manufactured in Slidell, Louisiana by Newton boats over the summer of 2018.
Captain Jennifer was able to take a tour of the manufacturing facilities during production in the spring of 2018! Ask about the Yankee Sunshine’s “baby pictures” 🙂
